Geriatrics is health care for elderly Veterans with complex needs. Extended care – also known as long term care – is a program for Veterans of all ages who need the daily support and assistance of another individual. Elderly Veterans can receive geriatric and long term care programs at home, at VA medical centers, or in the community.

Veteran Readiness and Employment (VR&E)
You may receive Veteran Readiness and Employment (VR&E) (Formerly known as Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment) services to help with job training, education, employment accommodations, resume development, and job seeking skills coaching. Other services may be provided to assist Veterans and Service members in starting their own businesses or independent living services for those who are severely disabled and unable to work in traditional employment.

VA benefits for service members

SW is a boutique suiting service providing upscale professional attire, wardrobe consulting, and education to transitioning service members, veterans, and their spouses on the path to a new career. Our SuitUp^ Program provides a pop-up suiting service to veteran events reaching those who are preparing to graduate, job fairs, interviews, networking events, daily career wear and formal attire. During SuitUP^ events, a SW Volunteer Stylists provide professional attire and assistance for each veterans individual fit and style preference. SW holds its own SuitUP^ event days or collaborates with various employment, career, and educational organizations to connect our service with the transitioning veteran population. Such organizations are VSOs, ESGR, National Guard, Colleges, and Universities, private technology schools; connecting Veterans and their families with this additional tool to help for a successful transition.
Since February 2009, Feed Our Vets has provided free food assistance to more than 43,513 Veterans and their family members, distributing 3.2 million pounds of food, and over $227,000 in gift cards. Feed Our Vets mission is to help Veterans in the United States, their spouses and children, whose circumstances have left them on the battlefield of hunger, and to involve the public in fighting Veteran hunger, through:

The LSNYC Veterans Justice Project (VJP) provides comprehensive civil legal services to low-income military veterans, service members and their families. The Greater Houston area is home to more than 300,000 veterans, the second largest veteran population in the United States. Veterans returning home from service often find the transition from a structured military regimen to a less structured civilian life extremely difficult. They struggle to find employment, navigate the hiring process, and re-engage in careers that give them a sense of purpose. Veterans often report feelings of isolation, and strained relationships with family, friends and colleagues.
Founded in 1997, U.S.VETS — Houston has three facilities, located at Midtown, Fannin Street and Downtown. The Midtown location is the main hub for the programs, supplemented by the service center located at the Historic DeGeorge at Union Station. The Fannin Street location provides administrative support and services.
Each month, U.S.VETS — Houston interacts with over 1,100 veterans and their families on an annual basis. U.S.VETS is a proud member of the Military Veteran Peer Network.

The parade starts at Houston and Young streets, continues up Main Street, across Ervay Street and passes in review in front of City Hall.
